The Lembaga Swadaya Kalimantan Membangun "LSKM" was established by Deed Number 8, dated July 30, 2002 made by: Poltak Pardomuan, SH. Notary in Pontianak, is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), which was established based on high concern for the socio-economic conditions of poor people in urban, rural and remote areas that are still underdeveloped, isolated and communities with special needs based on Community Groups (CG), especially women, children, the disabled and the elderly who have not been reached by development.

Seeing this situation, LSKM felt called to participate in building, developing and creating the independence of target community groups that are oriented towards efforts to improve the socio-economic of families, realized through independent productive economic efforts and multi-ethnic reconciliation efforts that indirectly realize eternal peace through "Human Resource Development (HRD)" based on science and technology, to manage available natural resources.

Before being a legal entity of LSKM, this institution was named: Yayasan Sosial Kalimantan Membangun abbreviated: “YSKM” , established on December 3, 1991 with Deed Number :3 made by: PSA. Tampubolon, SH Notary in Pontianak and Deed derivative with Number :18 dated September 22, 1997 made by: Elisabeth Veronika Ely, SH Notary in Pontianak and after the founders and implementers held a special meeting to change the name of the Foundation to “Lembaga Swadaya Kalimantan Membangun abbreviated (LSKM)” in carrying out its devotion to the community, LSKM has three major program focuses, namely: Development of Organizations and People's Economy, Studies and Advocacy and Support Systems and Institutional Independence.
